The town of Lagunas, located in the north of Peru, is supplied with electricity only from 4:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Electriciens sans frontières was asked by the NGO Corazonista to put in place a solution enabling the operation of the installations for the schedules not included in these periods for the supply of electricity to the equipment of a school, two high schools and a health centre.
Electriciens sans frontières provided electricity from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the technical training workshops and the computer room of the high schools of Lagunas and provides t electricity day and night for the city’s health centre. This is made possible by three ***it says FOUR in the ST!*** photovoltaic installations: one for the Goretti high school, one for the Lucero high school and one for the health centre. Each installation consists of solar panels, a battery bank, a regulator and a converter-charger.
This project contributes to a better quality of care, to diversify and to promote the employment of the young people of the city.
The school heads are responsible for the facilities.. The town hall is responsible for maintaining them.
