To activate these eight development levers, access to clean water and energy are essential.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1564734906521{background: #ffffff url(https:\/\/www.electriciens-sans-frontieres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Design-site.png?id=21812) !important;}&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Figures for <span style=\"color: #fabc41;\">energy<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator align=&#8221;align_left&#8221; Furthermore, <strong><span style=\"color: #fabc41;\"><a style=\"color: #fabc41;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sustainabledevelopment\/fr\/climate-change-2\/\">SDG 13<\/a><\/span><\/strong> is to <strong><em>&#8220;take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts&#8221;.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res&#8217; work revolves around two aspects: mitigation and adaptation.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Mitigation: promoting renewable energies to reduce our carbon footprint and reduce the share of fossil fuels responsible for climate change. Thus, <strong>93 % <\/strong>of Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res&#8217; development projects <strong>use such resources<\/strong>, be they <strong>solar<\/strong>, <strong>hydraulic<\/strong> or <strong>biomasse<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Adaptation: <strong>improving\u00a0the resilience of electrical systems will help the poorest population<\/strong> to cope with the effects of extreme weather disasters which, unfortunately, are likely to recur. In 2013, Typhoon Haiyan swept through the Philippines, while in 2016, Hurricane Matthew ravaged part of Haiti. In 2017, Hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated the islands of Saint Martin and Dominica. Each time Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res acted swiftly to <strong>restore access to electricity, to bring light and to secure buildings, <\/strong>alongside other international solidarity organisations.
