project, supported by the Centre de Crise et de Soutien (CDCS) of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>This initiative responds to the urgent needs of populations affected by the earthquake of September 2023, in the regions of Chichaoua, El Haouz, Ouarzazate, and Taroudant. <\/em><\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Solar solutions to meet the energy needs of disaster-stricken families&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Thanks to the support of the CDCS, several actions have been carried out:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"4\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Distribution of lamps and solar kits<\/span> <\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to families living in disaster areas<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in the regions of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Chichaoua<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">El Haouz<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ouarzazate<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and Taroudant<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"4\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Installation of 150 solar-powered street lamps<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">i n the El Haouz region, particularly in the Amizmiz valley, to light up congested areas, gathering places and communal areas such as sanitary facilities.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">These solar-powered streetlights, designed to be relocated as douars begin to be rebuilt, meet essential needs in terms of safety and energy autonomy.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Installing solar-powered streetlamps makes it possible to<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"-\" data-font=\"Aptos\" data-listid=\"9\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">improve<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> accessibility<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00e9 <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and safety of douars <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">at night <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">night lighting, <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"-\" data-font=\"Aptos\" data-listid=\"9\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to promote social <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">social activities <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and improve the quality of life in affected communities. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Following a new needs assessment in October 2024, Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res stepped up its action:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"5\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Distribution and installation of additional solar kits<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">f or people not covered by the first operations in the Taroudant, El Haouz and Ouarzazate regions.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"5\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Installation of 290 new solar-powered street lamps <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to improve lighting in encampment areas <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in the regions of Ouarzazate, El Haouz and Taroudant<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"esf-quote\">\n\t<div class=\"esf-quote-content\">\n\t\t<p id=\"before-line\">\"<\/p>\n\t\t<span><em>Thanks to the support of the CDCS and the mobilization of French and Moroccan partners, the \u201cLight Initiative for Morocco\u201d project will ultimately distribute nearly 3,000 lamps, more than 5,000 solar kits, and install 440 solar photovoltaic streetlights.<\/em><\/span><span id=\"after-line\">\"<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n\t<div class=\"esf-quote-signature\">\n\t\t<span>Herv\u00e9 Gouyet, pr\u00e9sident d'Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>[vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;The action in figures :&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span data-contrast=\"auto\">To carry out these activities, Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res relies on its collaboration with Entraide Nationale marocaine and involves the various levels of local authorities in its decision-making, while working in synergy with its local partner Morocco Future Energy Leader (MFEL). <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As part of its commitment to strengthening Franco-Moroccan cooperation, Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res is keen to foster synergies with Moroccan national players. The recent signing of a framework agreement with MFEL, during the state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron in October 2024, illustrates this commitment. <\/span> [\/vc_column_text][vc_separator border_width=&#8221;2&#8243; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;10px&#8221;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Awareness-raising and training: guaranteeing beneficiaries&#8217; autonomy in equipment maintenance&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span data-contrast=\"auto\">In addition<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> the distribution of solar kits<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and the installation of street lamps<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">awareness-raising sessions <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">on the use and maintenance of the equipment were organized, with the distribution of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">training materials <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">translated into Darija to ensure the lasting appropriation <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">of the equipment <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">by the beneficiaries<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and to provide them with the information they need to maintain the equipment they have installed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Waste management: a sustainable and responsible commitment&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">will carry out <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">soon <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a<\/span> <b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">mapping of electrical and electronic waste management structures<\/span><\/b> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">to ensure that the waste generated by renewable energy equipment<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> renewable energy equipment <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">(lamps and solar kits) <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">is collected, treated and disposed of responsibly, in compliance with environmental standards<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. This approach is part of an environmental action plan designed to limit the impact of installed equipment and promote social and environmental responsibility. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;15px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Focus on the last two actions&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]\ud83d\udd34 Receipt and staking out of solar streetlights<\/p>\n<p>Our teams went on site to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Receive the 150 solar streetlights installed in the Amizmiz Valley (El Haouz region).<\/li>\n<li>Mark out the locations for the installation of 290 new solar street lights in the El Haouz, Ouarzazate, and Taroudant regions, in coordination with local authorities and installation companies.<br \/>\nStaking out is a strategic step that involves working with local authorities to choose the location of each streetlight.
