font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Improving the resilience of the island of Dominica to climate <\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">change<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><strong>:<\/strong> In September 2017, <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Hurricane <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Maria <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">devastated <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">island <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Dominica. <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Following <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">this <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">dramatic <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">event, <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Electrici<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ens sans Fronti\u00e8res<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">installed <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">solar photovoltaic power plants, adapted to extreme <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">weather conditions, which allow Dominica&#8217;s health <\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">care <\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">centers<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">to function normally <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">during storms<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">. By using renewable energy to replace generators, the project reduces the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">island<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">&#8216;s greenhouse gas emissions.<\/span> <em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">This project was made possible thanks to the support of the Fondation de France, the EDF Group <\/span><\/em><em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Foundation, Schn<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">eider Electric and Capenergie.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><br role=\"presentation\" \/><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Strengthening the resilience of schools in Lebanon<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><strong>:<\/strong> On August 4<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">th<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">, the people of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Beirut faced a devastating explosion.
