By April 1, 2022, more than <strong>4 million civilians<\/strong> had already left Ukraine, according to the United Nations Refugee Agency. In Moldova in particular, more than 390,000 refugees were already present on the territory.<\/p>\n<p>In response to this large influx, Moldova declared a state of emergency and said it faced potential security problems and an economic burden, with limited energy capacity to handle the rapidly growing population.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Electricians sans fronti\u00e8res<\/strong> is working with the Crisis and Support Center of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs to <strong>support Ukrainian refugees in neighboring countries<\/strong>, such as Moldova.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/electriciens-sans-frontieres.org\/en\/?page_id=27867\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Make a donation<\/strong> <\/a>to help the civilian refugee population and support our actions![\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;32207&#8243;][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;32211&#8243;][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;32209&#8243;][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;OUR IMPACT IN NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES IN SUPPORT OF DISPLACED CIVILIANS FROM UKRAINE&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Because the protection of human lives is the absolute priority, the mobilization of Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res will be strong and long lasting.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>SLOVAKIA | March 8, 2022: Sending generators.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have mobilized our partners to support Ukrainian refugees in neighboring countries, who are without water and electricity, with a very limited telephone network.<\/p>\n<p>This is why on March 8, 2022, a shipment of equipment was sent to Slovakia, in coordination with the Crisis and Support Center of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Red Cross, including:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>10 generators of 3kVA.<\/li>\n<li>10 protection boxes.<\/li>\n<li>10 reels of electrical cables.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our objective: to meet the needs of displaced persons in Slovakia, in particular for recharging means of communication, for the daily and essential needs of access to water and electricity for food and heating.[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Sending a team of Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res on the field in Moldova&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>MOLDOVA | From March 19 to April 3, 2022: Sending a team of Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res on the field, in order to transport and install generators in seventeen Moldavian hospitals, and to train local teams in their maintenance.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Context<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From March 19 to April 3, 2022, a team of four volunteers (Devi, Matthieu, Alexis and Tristan) was sent to Moldova, in coordination with the Crisis and Support Center of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and our partners.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Our action<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The action of Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res is initially focused on seventeen hospitals in several large cities of Moldova where generators have been sent and connected, after consultation with the local authorities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our action thus makes it possible to anticipate massive influx of civilians and to respond to the best extent possible to the needs of refugee families who require access to care. At the same time, these actions increase the resilience of the Moldovan hospitals concerned.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res deploys skills and means <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During this mission, we:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>delivered 17 high power generators<\/strong> (60 to 550 kVa) to Moldovan hospitals.<\/li>\n<li><strong>trained Moldovan personnel<\/strong> for the maintenance and operation of the generators in each hospital.<\/li>\n<li>Carried out the complete installation and connection of <strong>5 generators<\/strong> in several Moldovan hospitals as well as the preparation and realization of about <strong>12 technical studies<\/strong> in order to connect the remaining generators in the next weeks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Direct and indirect beneficiaries of our action:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The health workers of the 17 hospitals;<\/li>\n<li>The patients of the 17 hospitals connected to the generators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To date, we are still in contact with the local teams and the Moldovan authorities to ensure that the generators connected to the hospitals are working properly.<\/p>\n<p>We also stay in touch to follow the progress of the work in some hospitals.
