We have sent equipment and carried out connection and training missions.<\/p>\n<p>To continue our commitment to helping civilian populations, while at the same time reducing the carbon footprint of our emergency humanitarian actions, we have worked with our partners to develop a new hybrid energy project using less carbon-intensive solutions that combine traditional generators with photovoltaic panels.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the project: to supply energy to buildings (hospitals, health centres, reception centres, schools, administrative buildings, etc.) that meet the needs of the Ukrainian population, using a hybrid electricity production solution.<\/p>\n<p>Around 32 tonnes of equipment &#8211; including at least 5 tonnes of outdoor floodlights, 15 tonnes of convectors and 6 tonnes of electric generators &#8211; have been sent to the beneficiary structures since the start of the winter, via our local partners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>November 2023:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fondation Fortchenyi: 1 x 22 kVA electrical generator and 1 x 33 kVA electrical generator, 56 site lamps, 37 mobile unit heaters, 172 convectors, 28 outdoor floodlights and ancillary equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Comit\u00e9 d&#8217;Aide M\u00e9dicale: 200 convectors, 96 site lamps, 100 light bulbs and ancillary equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Nadiia Ukraini: 2 x 33 kVA electrical generators, 66 mobile unit heaters, 64 site lamps, 311 convectors and ancillary equipment.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>December 2023:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ukrenergo: 2,739 outdoor floodlights.<\/p>\n<p>Medical Aid Committee: 2,466 outdoor floodlights.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>January 2024:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>AICM: 794 convectors<\/p>\n<p>Medical Aid Committee: 951 convectors<\/p>\n<p>Nadyia Espoir: dispatch of 4 x 33 kVA electrical generators<\/p>\n<h2>An evaluation carried out with Groupe URD<\/h2>\n<p>As part of the new 2023-2024 &#8220;Hybrid Solutions&#8221; project, Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res and Groupe URD launched a joint evaluation and capitalisation project on energy and winter preparedness in order to improve humanitarian responses in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd17 <a href=\"https:\/\/electriciens-sans-frontieres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/EvalUkraine_GroupeURD_ESF_Novembre-2023.pdf\">Report<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The aim of this assessment, which is being carried out in several regions of the country, is to gain a better understanding of the efforts being made to make Ukraine more resilient in the energy sector, so that it can better cope with the winter of 2023-2024, and to suggest areas for improvement.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd17\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/electriciens-sans-frontieres.org\/actualites\/enjeux-energetiques-ukraine-urd\/\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Light for Morocco Initiative<\/h2>\n<p><em><strong>Post-emergency earthquake project<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In the immediate aftermath of the earthquake that struck Morocco on 8 September 2023, Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res, in partnership with the World Energy Council&#8217;s Morocco Future Energy Leaders programme, undertook to meet the urgent needs of the Moroccan communities affected.<\/p>\n<p>An initial mission, supported by the local Moroccan authorities and the Mohammed VI Foundation, was carried out by two volunteers from 13 to 24 September 2023 to distribute and install 644 solar kits and lamps in the affected douars. Almost 13,000 people were affected in the regions of Chichaoua, Taroudant, Al Haouz and Ouarzazate. The operation also identified the considerable needs of the most isolated areas affected by the disaster. To meet these needs, Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res has been asked by the authorities and several local partners to provide more people with sustainable energy solutions, via the &#8220;Light Initiative for Morocco&#8221; project.<\/p>\n<p>Future actions (shipments, missions, etc.) :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The first shipment of equipment to Morocco is currently on its way. A total of 3,000 mobile solar lamps and 5,140 solar kits will be delivered to the premises of the local partner, Morocco Future Energy Leaders, prior to distribution.<\/li>\n<li>A second mission will take place at the end of February. The main aim of this mission will be to distribute the first deliveries of<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Emergency Gaza, Palestine<\/h2>\n<p>After an initial shipment of equipment in October, in collaboration with the Crisis and Support Centre, Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res is joining forces with 13 humanitarian organisations and Coordination SUD to help protect civilians and bring about a lasting ceasefire in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>Possible actions are currently being studied and will be implemented as soon as humanitarian access is guaranteed on a lasting basis. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanite.fr\/en-debat\/gaza\/appel-pour-un-cessez-le-feu-durable-a-gaza\">Read more<\/a>.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, Electriciens sans fronti\u00e8res has been mobilizing to support the population in their need for access to energy.
