JOIN ELECTRICIENS SANS FRONTIÈRES FOR SOLIDARITY ENERGY WEEK!

Bannière SES 40 ANS

From Monday, September 28, to Sunday, October 11, 2026, Electriciens sans frontières and its partners will be taking action across France to mark Solidarity Energy Week. Through events organized by its volunteers and partners, the NGO invites the public to learn about its work and the challenges related to ensuring access to electricity and water for everyone. This year’s event holds special significance, as 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of Electriciens sans frontières.

ENERGY TO SERVE THE MOST VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES

In 2026, 666 million people live without access to electricity, and 2.1 billion people lack access to safely managed drinking water services. Thanks to the dedication of its volunteers and partners, Electriciens sans frontières uses its technical expertise to serve the most vulnerable populations, promoting sustainable access to electricity and water—which are essential for health, education, and economic development.

Here are a few figures that illustrate this commitment:

  • 83 development projects in about 30 countries by 2025.
  • 50% of the projects provide access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation.
  • 94% of the projects use renewable energy.

Solidarity Energy Week is an opportunity for volunteers and partners of Electriciens sans frontières to organize events throughout France to demonstrate how access to electricity and water sustainably improves living conditions.

40 Years of International Initiatives: Energy for Solidarity Since 1986

This edition holds special significance, as 2026 marks the NGO’s 40th anniversary!

Since its founding in 1986, Electriciens sans frontières has been working to ensure that access to electricity and water is a right, not a privilege. Over the past four decades, the NGO has carried out nearly 800 projects in 70 countries, thanks to the dedication of 8,000 volunteers and the support of more than 300 partners. Today, 94% of the projects use renewable energy to combat energy poverty and climate change and to support the energy transition.

These 40 years also represent a promise: to continue innovating, bringing people together, and taking action to create a world where clean energy is accessible to everyone.
